State Fair Mix Zinnia produces tall, vibrant plants crowned with fully double 5–6 inch blooms in a wide range of bold summer colors. These heat-loving annuals grow quickly and put on a striking display from early summer until frost, making them ideal for cut flower gardens and sunny borders. Strong disease resistance and dependable performance in hot conditions ensure reliable, season-long color.

Growing Information
Planting
- Sow seeds directly outdoors after frost when soil has warmed, or start indoors 4–6 weeks earlier for faster flowering.
- Plant seeds ¼ inch deep in well-drained soil and space plants 12–18 inches apart to allow for full growth.
- Choose a location with full sun, as the plants thrive in heat and light.
- Germination usually occurs within one to two weeks, followed by rapid vegetative growth.
- Expect first blooms in approximately 60–80 days from sowing, with large 5–6 inch flowers appearing soon after plants reach maturity.
- Keep soil evenly moist during early establishment to ensure strong root development.
Maintenance
- Water deeply at the base of the plants to reduce the chance of powdery mildew.
- Provide good air circulation around plants, as mature height commonly reaches 30–40 inches with an 18–24 inch spread.
- Remove spent blooms to encourage new flower production throughout the summer.
- Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer early in the season to support vigorous growth.
- Monitor for pests, though this variety shows strong tolerance to common zinnia diseases.
Harvest & Storage
- Cut the blooms early in the morning when flowers are fully open to ensure the best vase life.
- Place cut stems immediately into clean, cool water and recut the ends before arranging.
- Harvest regularly to promote continued blooming throughout the season.
- Store finished bouquets in a cool location out of direct sunlight to maintain color and freshness.
